Embellish Your Love - Tie The Knot With Momento

Kristy Sayer is an Australian lifestyle blogger with a passion for healthy living and travel. She lives in Sydney with her husband Jesse who is originally from Louisiana, USA. Together the couple blog at southerninlaw, sharing their lives, delicious recipes and adventures along the way.

I still can’t believe I’m married. All the planning, preparing, waiting and … bam. It’s over before you know it. That said - our wedding day was truly one of the best days of my life so far. Ah, feel the love!

Every bride wants their wedding to be different. You don’t want your guests feeling bored or like they’ve been to the same event two weeks before. You want it to stand out from the crowd.

One of the best ways to make yours memorable is to come up with a distinct theme. We came up with one that was repeated throughout the whole wedding – from the invitations to our cake, to the design on the signs at the reception, to the border on our Thank you cards and the cover of our wedding album.

Our theme was based on the gorgeous heart shape you can see on our wedding cake. I always loved graphic design and wanted to create a logo just for us, something meaningful, so ... the 'heart cluster' was born. The dozens of tiny little hearts represented the family and friends who supported us throughout our long distance relationship and when Jesse moved to Australia.

The ‘cluster’ became a feature of our invitations, then our RSVP cards. Then I worked with our Reception Stylist to work the colour scheme in to our venue décor, while our incredible cake decorator (Danni from Sweetcheeks Cookies and Cakes) incorporated it into our beautiful (gluten-free) wedding cake.

It was important that the emblem continued through to the reception decoration, featured on the signs on our Candy Bar, in our DIY Wedding cards, and even beyond the big day to grace our Thank you cards and the wedding album itself.

That bundle of hearts is now something we associate with our wedding, with us. It’s like the visual soundtrack for our relationship, so I think I should keep using it.

I’m telling you all of this because while I themed my wedding stationery the old-school way, Momento have just made it too easy with their new Modern Wedding embellishment pack.

You just have to drag-and-drop designs on to the page. Too late for me, I could have saved a lot of time, but I believe some of the aqua-watermelon-banana motifs might cameo in the honeymoon album I’m creating for Jesse’s First Anniversary present. Along with the hearts of course.

My parting tip! If you want to leave a lasting impression on your guests and your partner, choose a simple theme that your stylist and cake decorator can easily work with, and stick to it. One small, versatile, meaningful design is all you need to connect your whole wedding experience.
